When a transmission is rebuilt it first needs to be taken apart. It then is closely inspected by one of our certified mechanics. One ting that we look for are any damaged parts that could be causing an issue with the vehicle. These parts are replaced and the transmission is than carefully put back together. Some other components of the transmission are replaced with brand new parts. You can take a look at how an automatic transmission works by clicking here.
How Long does it take to rebuild a transmission?
This is not a simple question to answer. If you have a good mechanic that knows what they are doing they can get it done in a matter of hours. In a general sense it will take the average transmission repair shop from anywhere from 2 to 4 days. Of course there are many other factors that need to be considered. One factor would be, what kind of condition is the transmission currently in. A transmission that has an extensive amount of damage is going to take more time to correctly diagnose and to repair. Most repair shops will be able to investigate the problem and give you some sort of a time frame on how long it will take them to get your car back on the road.
